  • Ingredients of Texas Sheet Cake

Cake

2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 cup of water
1 cup of butter
¼ cup of cocoa powder
A pinch of salt
½ of buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking soda
2 eggs, beaten

Forsting

¾ cup milk
¼ cup cocoa powder
½ cup of butter
2 ½ cups of powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup chopped pecans

  1. Mix the Dry Ingredients

    Mix flour and sugar into a large mixing bowl and set aside.
  2. Boil the Wet Ingredients

    Mix water, butter, and unsweetened cocoa powder in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil then add the dry ingredients.
  3. Finish Off the Batter

    Add salt, butter milk, vanilla, baking soda, and the beaten eggs to the batter. Then pour it on a large, greased baking sheet.
  4. Bake

    Place your cake in a preheated oven at 170 degrees Celsius for 20 to 25 minutes.
  5. Prepare the Frosting

    Add milk, cocoa powder, and butter to a saucepan. Bring to a boil then lower the heat for 2 minutes. Take off the heat and whisk in the powdered sugar, vanilla, and chopped pecans.
  6. Assemble

    Once your cake is baked through, take it out and top it with the pecan frosting. Serve warm and enjoy!
