Ingredients of Chicken Biryani

- 2 chicken breasts, cut into cubes
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 1 tbsp curry powder
- 1 tbsp chicken spices
- 1 tbsp plain yogurt
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 small red onion, diced
- 1 carrot, diced
- ¼ cup peas
- 1 small yellow pepper, diced
- 1 small red pepper, diced
- 1 tbsp crushed garlic
- 1 cup basmati rice, washed and soaked

- Soak the Rice
تم نسخ الرابطWash and soak your rice in hot water, this will require time (10 – 15 minutes), so it is best to do it before getting to the other steps.
- Cook the Chicken
تم نسخ الرابطCube your chicken breasts and mix them with the spices and yogurt. Cook them until golden brown in a hot pan with some vegetable oil. Once cooked, set them aside in a separate dish.
- Sauté the Veggies
تم نسخ الرابطIn the same pan, a more oil and sauté your veggies starting with the onions and carrots. Then pees, colored bell peppers and crushed garlic. You want your veggies to get beautifully charred.
- Cook the Rice
تم نسخ الرابطOnce your veggies are good to go, add in the rice after straining it and sauté it for a few minutes with the veggies. Add back the chicken and 1 cup of boiling hot water. Let it simmer on high heat for 2 minutes. Then, cover your pan and turn down the heat to the lowest. Cook for another 10 to 15 minutes or until the rice is fully cooked.
You can add more spices here for an extra flavor.
Serve this with Dakkous salsa – simply blend 1 tomato, 1 onion, 2 garlic cloves, a drizzle of oil, lemon juice, and salt to taste.
