  • Ingredients of Dubai Chocolate Umm Ali

Pastry Layer

6 square sheets of puff pastry
1 tbsp butter, melted
Milky Sauce
2 cups milk
¼ cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp dark chocolate, melted
1 cup heavy cream
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp rose water

Kadaifi Layer

1 pack Kadaifi dough, chopped
2 tbsp pistachio butter, adjust as desired

Garnish

Melted dark chocolate
Chopped pistachio
  • Method & Directions of Dubai Chocolate Umm Ali

  1. Bake the Puff Pastry

    Start by preheating your oven to 180°C. Arrange the puff pastry sheets in a baking sheet layered with a piece of parchment paper. Poke holes into each square of pastry with a fork. Now, bake until golden brown.
  2. Prepare the Chocolate Milk Sauce

    In a saucepan over medium heat, mix milk, sugar, vanilla, melted chocolate, haevy cream, brown sugar, and rose water. Bring to a bubble then reduce heat and simmer for 3 minutes.
  3. Make the Kadaifi Layer

    In a pan, melt the butter and toss in the shredded Kadaifi dough. Keep stirring until it gets golden brown, then add the pistachio butter and mix.
  4. Crumble the Baked Puff Pastry

    Once your baked pastries are ready, crumble them into large pieces and place each crumbled square into an individual serving dish that is oven friendly.
  5. Top with Kadaifi

    Now, top the Umm Ali with the pistachio Kadaifi mix and even it out.
  6. Pour the Chocolate Milk Sauce

    Pour the milky sauce you made earlier covering the puff pastry and Kadaifi mixture.
  7. Bake the Dubai Chocolate Umm Ali

    Transfer the dessert into your oven and bake until the surface is nicely golden. Take out and garnish with melted dark chocolate and crushed pistachios. Serve warm and enjoy!
