Ramadan Recipe: Chickpea Tofu

  • Ingredients of Chickpea Tofu

Chickpea Tofu

100 grams dried chickpeas
10 grams ginger
1 green chili
¼ tsp turmeric
½ tbsp salt
  • Method & Directions of Chickpea Tofu

  1. Soak the Chickpeas

    Soak your dried chickpeas in plenty of water and leave them overnight until they have expanded and softened.
  2. Blend the Chickpeas

    In a high-speed food processor, add your chickpeas, ginger, green chili, and 250 milliliters of water. Blend for 1 minute until smooth.
  3. Cook the Chickpea Mixture

    In a non-stick frying pan, pour the mixture, adding turmeric and salt. Bring to a simmer and reduce the heat cooking it for 2 to 5 minutes and stirring constantly. This will create a thick paste that holds onto the spatula.
  4. Chill the Tofu

    Transfer the tofu to a glass mold, let it cool, then fridge it for an hour.
  5. Serve

    You can enjoy this tofu by itself, or toast with some oil of your choice and enjoy it with a salad.
