Chicken Shawarma Salad is a wonderful side dish for your Ramadan feast. It is a wonderful way to enjoy that Shawarma flavor without the extra calories. This salad is a wonderful way to get your protein, fiber, and fat after a long fasting day.

  • Ingredients of Chicken Shawarma Salad

Chicken

2 chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp yogurt

Shawarma Spices

1 tsp cumin
1 tsp ground coriander
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp paprika
½ tsp turmeric
½ tsp cloves
½ tsp white pepper
½ tsp ginger powder
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp ground cinnamon

Salad

1 cup lettuce, chopped
½ cup arugula, chopped
1 red onion, sliced
¼ cubed cucumber pickles
4 red radishes, chopped
¼, sliced

Tahini Sauce

2 tbsp tahini
1 tbsp room temperature water
2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp white vinegar
1 tbsp yogurt
1 tbsp olive oil
2 crushed garlic cloves
Salt and pepper
  • Method & Directions of Chicken Shawarma Salad

  1. Cook the Chicken

    Marinate your chicken breasts in yogurt, olive oil, and the Shawarma spices listed above for 10 minutes. Cook in a hot oiled skillet for 5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  2. Flattening your chicken breasts ensures they absorb the flavors and cook thoroughly.

  3. Prepare the Salad

    In a large salad bowl, mix in lettuce, arugula, pickles, and radishes. You can add or remove any vegetables to your liking.
  4. Make the Tahini Sauce

    Whisk in the tahini, water, lemon juice, white vinegar, olive oil, crushed garlic, salt and pepper.
  5. Assemble

    Slice your cooked chicken breasts, place them on top of the vegetables, and drench them with the tahini sauce. You can garnish with pomegranate seeds, fried pita bread, and toasted almonds or pine nuts.
