Method & Directions of 15-Minute Maamoul
-
- 15 Minutes
- Make the Dough
تم نسخ الرابطMelt the ghee and let it cool to room temperature. In a large bowl, mix semolina and flour, then add the cooled ghee. Rub the mixture together by hand until well combined, then let it rest for 10 minutes.
- Add the Flavor
تم نسخ الرابطOnce rested, mix in the powdered sugar, Maamoul spice, and Mahaleb. For the ground mastic stones, crush them with a pinch of sugar before adding to ensure they blend smoothly into the dough. Stir instant yeast into warm milk and gradually pour it over the dry ingredients, mixing until a smooth dough forms. Let it rest for 5 more minutes.
- Prepare the Filling
تم نسخ الرابطIn a separate bowl, combine date paste, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, and butter. Mix well until soft and pliable, then roll the mixture into small balls, about 1 teaspoon each. Set them aside for assembly.
- Shape the Maamoul
تم نسخ الرابطScoop about 1 tablespoon of dough and flatten it in the palm of your hand. Place a date ball in the center, then carefully wrap and seal the dough around the filling. Shape it into a smooth round or use a Maamoul mold for traditional designs.
- Bake the Maamoul
تم نسخ الرابطPreheat the oven to 200°C. Arrange the Maamoul on a lined baking tray, leaving space between each piece. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges turn golden.
- Finishing Touches
تم نسخ الرابطLet the Maamoul cool completely before dusting with powdered sugar. Serve with Arabic coffee and enjoy!
