Jerusalem-based author Nathan Thrall won the award for his account of Palestinian life in the West Bank.

Pro-Palestinian Book Wins Pulitzer Prize

Jresusalem-based author Nathan Thrall's non-fiction book 'A Day in the Life of Abed Salama: Anatomy of a Jerusalem Tragedy' recently won the Pulitzer Prize for general non-fiction. 

'A Day in the Life of Abed Salama' is about a Palestinian father who sets out to search for his son who has been in a school trip accident. However, the father, Abed Salama, has to cross various obstructions, including security checkpoints, before he can get to his son. 

The jury for the Pulitzer called Thrall's book, "a finely reported and intimate account of life under Israeli occupation of the West Bank."

Recently, Palestinian journalist Bisan Owda won a Peabody Award for her coverage of life in Gaza during the ongoing war. 

Nathan Thrall is an author and essayist who wrote 'The Only Language They Understand: Forcing Compromise in Israel and Palestine'. Thrall has also taught at the Bard College.
