Popular Al Sufouh Beach in Dubai Temporarily Closes to the Public

Al Sufouh Beach, a widely popular local spot in Dubai also known as Secret Beach or Black Palace Beach, has been temporarily closed to the public. The closure was officially confirmed through Dubai Municipality signs placed at the entrance and along the access road, explicitly stating, 'Beach is closed temporarily.' Notably, the closure has been in effect since last Friday.

Ownership Status and Lack of Facilities

Responding to inquiries, the Dubai Media Office clarified that Al Sufouh Beach is categorized as a "privately owned beach." Situated between royal palaces in Al Sufouh and in proximity to Knowledge Village, the entrance lacks signage, facilities, and restaurants, distinguishing it as a more secluded location.

Popularity and Unique Features

Al Sufouh Beach has gained popularity for its easy vehicular access and extensive seafront offering views of Burj Al Arab and The Palm Jumeirah. Unlike other public beaches in the vicinity, this beach is distinctive for its absence of facilities, providing a more natural and peaceful environment.

Broader Beach Development Plans

In May, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, revealed ambitious plans to develop Dubai's coastal areas, including Al Sufouh Beach. The development strategy includes 54km of beaches around Palm Jebel Ali, The Palm Jumeirah, and Al Mamzar. The proposal also consists of creating enclosed beach areas, walkways, cafes, and dining spaces. These initiatives align with the overarching plan to extend the emirate's beaches by 400% by 2040 and enhance services on public beaches by 300% by 2025.
