In a groundbreaking moment, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. celebrated Dubai Police’s Major Bader Ahmed J. Al Zafeen as one of the 2024 Presidential Awards honorees—marking the first time an Emirati received the prestigious Kaanib ng Bayan (Ally of the Nation) Award. This recognition, bestowed at Malacañang Palace, highlights Major Bader’s exceptional support for Filipinos in the UAE, particularly through his DNA initiative, which facilitated the repatriation of 118 undocumented Filipino children between 2021 and 2023.

Going beyond his duties, Major Bader ensured DNA testing and exit passes were provided free of charge, helping children reunite with their families and access education. This effort embodies true compassion and the power of cross-border collaboration.

As part of the celebration of December’s Month of Overseas Filipinos, Marcos Jr. praised all awardees, saying: “Let us emulate their resolve and strive for progress—locally and globally.”

Bader shares the spotlight with Moldova’s Honorary Consul Victor Gaina, who helped rescue Filipinos during the Ukraine crisis. Their stories are a testament to the power of allyship and action, reminding us that even in a globalized world, empathy knows no borders.
