Orange Alert Issued As Unstable Weather Peaks Today

Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms prompted an orange alert in the UAE on Thursday, causing disruptions across the country. The intense weather began overnight, with residents in many areas waking to strong winds and heavy downpours. Dark rain clouds covered the mountains in the north, leading to overflowing waterfalls.

Preparations and Precautions

Authorities have been preparing for the peak of the unstable weather expected to last until May 3. Safety warnings have been issued, and residents are advised to take precautions. Schools have shifted to distance learning, and many employees are working from home. Public areas such as parks and beaches have been closed, while airports and airlines are preparing for possible disruptions.

Moderate Rain Compared to Earlier This Month

The current rainfall is less severe than the exceptional downpour earlier in the month, but the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has reported showers, lightning, and strong winds across the country since midnight. Despite the moderate severity, residents are urged to stay cautious and follow safety advisories.
