K-Pop Group SEVENTEEN to Become UNESCO Ambassadors

World-renowned K-Pop boy group SEVENTEEN's members will become UNESCO's Goodwill Ambassadors from Wednesday, Jun. 26.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization announced in Paris, France, on Tuesday, Jun. 12.

The K-Pop group has been given this responsibility because its members share the same goals of empowering young people to face and tackle the challenges of today's time, according to a statement from the Director-General of UNESCO Audrey Azoulay.

Azoulay also said, "They also inspire and support young people around the world with their music and positive energy."

SEVENTEEN is a South Korean band containing 13 male members, which was founded in 2015.

The K-pop group's revenue was only second to global pop icon Taylor Swift in 2023 and they also ranked number one on the International Federation of Phonographic Industry (IFPI) album charts in the same year. Their track 'FML' received billions of streams online.
