How Did UAE Help Seize Drugs Worth $750M in the Global Operation?

In a global operation, the UAE worked with 21 other nations to help seize 55 tonnes of drugs valued at $750 million. 597 individuals have been arrested as part of the international operation.

A video depicting the two-month operation was released online by Lt.-General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE's deputy prime minister and interior minister. The International Security Alliance is an alliance of interior, justice, and home affairs ministries from 11 nations, including the UAE.

The operation, which was carried out in collaboration with the Police Community of the Americas, brought together nations from the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America to develop novel strategies to stop the trade in drugs.

Multiple narcotics shipments were busted in the footage, and suspects were detained. The drugs were discovered by police officers in a variety of objects, including watermelons.

More drug busts and arrests are anticipated as a result of the operation, which came to an end on June 26th, International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

The International Security Alliance Secretariat, which is based in the UAE, oversaw the operation. France and the UAE formed the alliance in February 2017 to defend international communities by preventing organized transnational crime.
