What You Need to Know About Dubai's Flying Taxis

During the recent Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) World Congress in Dubai, Khaled Al Awadhi, Director of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) Transportation Systems Department, shared insights into this innovative project. Tyler Trerotola, Joby Aviation's General Manager for the Middle East, elaborated on the plan to establish four vertiports strategically located at:

- Dubai International Airport (DXB)
- Palm Jumeirah
- Dubai Marina
- Dubai Downtown

Speed and Efficiency

One of the standout features of these electric air taxis is their impressive speed. Designed to carry a pilot and up to four passengers, these aircraft can soar at speeds of up to 320 km/h. For instance, a trip from Dubai International Airport to Palm Jumeirah will take just 10-12 minutes—far quicker than the 45 minutes it typically takes by car during peak hours.
