Dubai's Private Schools Achieve Global Top 10 Rank in Mathematics

In a historic achievement, Dubai's private schools have secured a position among the top 14 globally in mathematics, science, and reading, marking the first time they have surpassed the National Agenda goal of ranking within the top 15.

The results stem from the latest cycle of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), conducted every three years by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). PISA assesses the ability of 15-year-olds to apply their knowledge and skills in reading, mathematics, and science to real-life challenges.

Dubai's private schools achieved a remarkable ninth place worldwide in mathematics, boasting a mean score of 497, surpassing the OECD average by 25 points. Additionally, they secured 13th place globally in reading with a mean score of 498 and 14th place in science with a mean score of 503 points.

Dr. Abdulla Al Karam, Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), attributed this success to the leadership of school principals, the expertise of teachers, and the determination of students, stating that Dubai's schools have surpassed national targets and now rightfully stand among the best globally.

Out of 9,250 students representing 171 schools with diverse curricula participating in the PISA 2022 study, those schools rated Outstanding by the KHDA achieved scores of 551 in mathematics, 553 in science, and 554 in reading, notably higher than the OECD average.

Among different curricula, IB curriculum schools performed exceptionally well, scoring 535 points in mathematics, 538 points in science, and 528 points in reading. Fatma Belrehif, CEO of Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau, emphasized that the performance highlights Dubai's commitment to delivering high-quality education aligned with global standards and surpassing UAE National Agenda targets.
