Dubai's Night-Swimming Beaches Draw 1.5M Visitors

Dubai Municipality has revealed that its night-swimming beaches in Jumeirah 2, Jumeirah 3, and Umm Suqeim 1 have welcomed an impressive 1.5 million visitors within just 18 months of their opening. These beaches, spanning a total distance of 800 metres, highlight the Municipality’s dedication to enhancing Dubai’s public beach offerings with top-notch services and facilities that prioritize comfort, luxury, and quality of life for both residents and tourists.

A Vision for World-Class Beaches

This initiative is part of a comprehensive plan to develop Dubai’s public beaches and reflects the emirate’s efforts to establish itself as a global leader in quality of life and tourism. Ibrahim Juma, Director of the Public Beaches and Water Canals Department at Dubai Municipality, explained that the project’s high turnout showcases its success in offering a unique and memorable tourism experience.

“The night-swimming initiative allows residents and tourists to enjoy the beauty of Dubai’s beaches after sunset while ensuring the highest levels of comfort and safety,” said Juma. “This aligns with Dubai’s integrated efforts to position itself as one of the world’s top tourist destinations and a global leader in quality of life.”

Inclusive and Accessible

Dubai Municipality has taken significant steps to ensure these beaches are inclusive and accessible to all, including people of determination and senior citizens. Key features include floating chairs for swimming, trained rescue teams equipped to assist, and a fully equipped rest area designed according to the ‘Dubai Universal Design Code.’ These enhancements underscore the Municipality’s commitment to providing a welcoming and safe environment for everyone.

Advanced Safety and Services

The night-swimming beaches are equipped with advanced lighting systems that allow for safe swimming between sunset and sunrise. Electronic screens display educational and public-awareness content to enhance the visitor experience. A highly qualified team of rescuers, including an operations manager, assistant operations manager, rescue supervisors, and 16 trained lifeguards, is stationed on-site to ensure the safety of all beachgoers. The team is equipped with modern rescue tools and beach bicycles to respond quickly to any situation.

A Unique Offering in the Region

Dubai’s night-swimming beaches set the emirate apart as a unique destination in the region. By designating specific hours for night swimming and offering integrated services, Dubai Municipality has created a distinctive recreational experience that caters to residents and visitors alike. The initiative reflects the government’s vision to make Dubai the best city globally for living, working, and tourism.

A Commitment to Excellence

In May 2023, Dubai Municipality officially designated three beaches for night-swimming as part of its broader strategy to enhance public beach experiences. These efforts not only elevate Dubai’s reputation as a global entertainment hub but also contribute to the well-being and happiness of its residents and visitors. With integrated services, state-of-the-art facilities, and a strong focus on safety, Dubai’s night-swimming beaches have become a must-visit attraction for millions.
