Dubai Ruler Praises Saudi for Hosting 2034 FIFA World Cup

Saudi Arabia has officially been named the host nation for the 2034 FIFA World Cup. The announcement came during a virtual extraordinary FIFA Congress on Wednesday, where the decision was confirmed by acclamation due to the Kingdom's sole bid for the tournament.  

This will mark the first time the World Cup will feature 48 national teams, following FIFA's approval of the expanded tournament format.

Dubai Ruler Praises Saudi Arabia’s Ambition

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, congratulated Saudi Arabia for achieving this historic milestone. He highlighted the Kingdom's "great ambition" and "strong will," expressing confidence in their ability to host a remarkable and successful event.  

Morocco, Spain and Portugal Secure 2030 World Cup

In the same announcement, FIFA confirmed that the 2030 World Cup will be hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal. The tournament will span three continents and six nations, with Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay hosting special games to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the World Cup.  

Sheikh Mohammed also extended his congratulations to King Mohammed VI of Morocco, along with Spain and Portugal, for their collaborative bid.  

A Middle Eastern Legacy

Saudi Arabia's hosting of the 2034 World Cup cements the Middle East's growing presence in global football. It follows Qatar's successful hosting of the 2022 tournament, which was won by Argentina.
