Dubai Private Schools: 2nd Globally for Financial Literacy

Dubai's private schools have achieved remarkable recognition for their financial literacy programs, ranking second worldwide. This achievement highlights the city's commitment to providing students with essential real-life skills.

According to the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2022, conducted by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Dubai’s private schools not only excelled in financial literacy but also secured the 6th spot globally for creative thinking. This is the first time Dubai has participated in these additional domains.

PISA, held every three years, assesses the ability of 15-year-old students to apply their knowledge in reading, mathematics, and science to real-world scenarios. In 2022, 82% of the 4,478 participating students from Dubai reported they know how to manage their money, and 79% had set savings goals for future purchases or activities.

The creative thinking domain measures students’ capabilities to generate, evaluate, and refine ideas leading to innovative solutions and expressions of creativity. Impressively, 84% of the 7,474 students from Dubai met or exceeded the OECD baseline level for creative thinking, with 74% expressing confidence in developing creative ideas for school projects.

Her Excellency Aisha Miran, Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), praised the results, stating: “We are immensely proud of our students and schools’ performance in these international assessments, which underscore Dubai’s reputation as a premier destination for high-quality education that equips students with future skills for a rapidly changing world.”
