Canadian PM Justin Trudeau and His Wife Part Ways

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau have parted ways, the announcement was shared through the Canadian PM's social media. 

PM Trudeau shared a message on Instagram: "Sophie and I would like to share the fact that after many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have made the decision to separate."

The couple has asked the public and media to respect their and their children's privacy. 

PM Trudeau and his wife have been married since 2005 and they have three children together. 

When Sophie Gregoire first met PM Trudeau in 2003, she was a television personality and he was still five years away from running for parliament. 

As the Canadian PM's wife, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau has worked for women's rights and with many charities. 

In recent years, Ms. Gregoire Trudeau made fewer public appearances and she rarely travelled with the PM on foreign trips.

She made her last public appearance beside him during the Canadian festivities on Jul. 1.

She also shared a similar message to PM's, asking for privacy during this time.
