The move is part of X's larger aim to restructure how content display on the site, according to American business magazine, Fortune.
Elon Musk, the CEO of X, confirmed that the company was exploring a new platform design.
This is coming from me directly. Will greatly improve the esthetics.

Unless the person or publisher posting the link added their own content, the new design would simply provide the lead image and URL of a post, according to Fortune.
Publishers who rely on social media to drive traffic to their websites and who now include a synopsis of their articles in the social media postings they share may experience significant effects from the shift.
The publication reports that Musk's motivation for the change is to minimize the size of news postings so that more posts may be displayed in users' timelines. The image would still function as a link to the article.
