The world’s largest mosaic art installation has been unveiled in Hatta, paying homage to the founding fathers of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum. The new mural, titled "Zayed and Rashid Mural," is part of the ongoing #ZayedAndRashid campaign, which celebrates key national milestones.
The Record-Breaking Artwork
Spanning a massive 2,198.7 square meters, the mural is set against the stunning backdrop of the Hatta Dam Water Falls, with the artwork depicting a historical photo of the two leaders from the time the UAE was founded. The mural has officially been recognized by the Guinness World Records as the largest mosaic in the world, replacing a previous installation that also honored the UAE's founding figures.
Connecting Culture and Nature
This project is part of the Dubai Street Museum initiative, which was launched in 2016 to display Dubai's cultural identity through public art. The mosaic’s design blends naturally with the surrounding environment, incorporating materials from the Hatta region. Its color scheme, inspired by the traditional clothing worn by the founding fathers, deepens the mural’s emotional and historical impact.
