With less than two months remaining until the start of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the simulation continued over two days, starting on Wednesday, September 21, from Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium, Al Thumama Stadium, and Al Bayt Stadium.
On Thursday, September 22, it continued at Al-Janoub Stadium, 974 Stadium, Education City Stadium, and Lusail Stadium.
Engineer Thani Al Zaraa, Director of Transportation Operations Department at the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, said: “We aim from the simulation to test the transport operations of fans via buses and train our crews on all tournament tracks and operational aspects to serve thousands of fans and transport them through all points and stations designated for them, starting from the moment they arrive at the stops, As far as the pick-up and drop-off areas around the stadiums and metro stations, we will ensure a smooth experience for them.”
Meanwhile, Qatar Transport Company announced its readiness for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and indicated that more than 4,000 buses will be provided to serve fans during the upcoming event.
The company revealed a team of manpower that will be tasked with the task of transporting the guests of Qatar, through more than 9 thousand drivers and 2000 support employees, in addition to 3 thousand operational employees, in order to provide a comfortable and easy transportation experience during the matches.
The buses will operate on more than 300 tracks within the advanced road network that leads to various stadiums, facilities, tourist attractions, and accommodation areas for visitors to the tournament.
The electric buses will also support public transport efforts in the World Cup tournament to become a permanent legacy after its end, as all-electric buses will be allocated after the tournament for public transport, schools or other categories to have a full fleet of electric buses, which is in Qatar's vision through the use of alternative energy or electrical.
