Dr. Al Jaber became the first COP President to ring the bell at the stock exchange.
In doing so, Dr. Al Jaber urged to create innovative techniques with lower risk and expand investment in bankable clean projects.
Before his visit to NYSE, in an op-ed with Fortune, the Emirati COP President emphasized fixing climate finance might be a difficult task, but it is not impossible.
At the NYSE, the COP28 President explained how global trust will be restored through the delivery of the previous commitments, which include designating $100 billion for climate funding, replenishing the Global Climate Fund, and operationalising the Loss and Damage Fund agreed on at COP27.
Dr. Al Jaber also stressed the need to develop an inclusive approach towards tackling climate change, which requires the contribution of both development banks and aid programs.
