The three-time world champion secured the top position with a lap time of 1m27.472.
His teammate Sergio Perez secured P3, while Ferrari's Charles Leclerc secured P2 with a lap time of 1m27.791s.
Perez was followed by Fernando Alonso, Oscar Piastri, Lando Norris, George Russell, Lewis Hamilton, Yuki Tsunoda, and Lance Stroll in the top ten.
Ferrari's Oliver Bearman was knocked out in Q2, but he managed to secure P11 on the grid for his debut F1 race, which impressed everyone since he debuted in F1 only at eighteen.
Bearman was followed by Alex Albon, Kevin Magnussen, Daniel Ricciardo and Nico Hulkenberg for being eliminated in Q2.
Nico Hulkenberg faced a power failure in Q1, which brought the session to a halt for the Haas F1 driver's car to be moved out of the track.
Drivers who were eliminated in Q1 were Valterri Bottas, Esteban Ocon, Pierre Gasly, Logan Sargeant, and Zhou Guanyu.

Guanyu's Stake was still being repaired in Q1 because of his crash in FP3. He was unable to start a flying lap despite there being two minutes on the clock for Q1, so he finished as 'did not qualify'.
That's it for the qualifying session and we wish the drivers all the best for the final race on Saturday!
