The unforgettable Umm Kulthum is an icon all across the world, her enchanting voice and rhythm has entrapped all of us into loving her vocals and her art, she will live in our history and our hearts till the end of time. Umm Kulthum is one of the most successful performers in the Middle East and the western Arab regions.

As a homage to Umm Kulthum's greatness, a musical inspired on her life is set to debut in Dubai shortly. From May 3rd to 5th, the Dubai Opera will be showcasing Umm Kulthum & The Golden Era, a West End production. The play is performed in English with Arabic music, and it precedes the Dubai Opera's holographic presentation of a computerized rendition of Umm Kulthum's life.

This piece of art was written by Mona Khashoggi, a well-known and established Saudi Arabian theater and movie producer, writer, and arts patron. As a result, the focus of this musical will be on the singer's life, from her humble roots in rural Egypt to her rise to be one of the world's most powerful vocalists. Many of her classic songs will be included in the musical, including "Enta Omri," "Alf Leila We Leila," "Fakarouni," and "Al-Atlal.

The musical shall also demonstrate how she impacted the industry at a period when it was led by males and women had very little opportunity to pursue careers as artists. Despite all obstacles, she triumphed and then became an icon for many women around the world, with Egypt proudly associating her with its history and identity.
