The new feature will allow parents and guardians to invite their adolescents (aged 13 to 17) to create a specialized Uber account.
This specialized account will allow teenagers to request their rides with parental supervision and there are important safety features built into this Uber-booking experience.
The parent or guardian can invite their teen to use the Uber app through the Family Profile on the application.
The teenager will receive a link to download the app to create their teen account and complete the obligatory safety boarding process.
When they have completed this process, teenagers can start booking Uber rides on their own.
Parents and guardians will be able to track their teenagers' trips live. They will also receive information about the driver for safety purposes.
Sensors and GPS data are used to check if the driver goes off course or ends the ride early. In this situation, the driver and the teenager are contacted to make sure everything is fine.
Parents and guardians will also be able to contact the driver at any time during the trip.
