The UAE's floating hospital has arrived at Al Arish Port in Egypt, extending crucial medical assistance to injured Palestinians from Gaza.
Aligned with the directives of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the deployment of the floating hospital is part of the ‘Gallant Knight 3’ humanitarian operation, demonstrating the UAE's unwavering commitment to supporting the people of the Gaza Strip.
Established in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, Department of Health Abu Dhabi (DoH), and AD Ports Group, the floating hospital boasts a dedicated team of 100 medical and administrative staff comprising various specialties such as anaesthesia, general surgery, orthopaedics, emergency medicine, as well as nurses and paramedics.
Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the hospital features 100 beds, operating and intensive care rooms, a radiology unit, a laboratory, a pharmacy, and medical cabinets, ensuring comprehensive medical care for patients in need.
This maritime medical facility complements the operations of the UAE's integrated field hospital, inaugurated on December 3rd, 2023, which has treated over 6,146 cases as of February 24th, 2024. The field hospital has provided critical medical services including life-saving surgeries, intensive care, consultations, and therapeutic interventions.
With a helipad and marine boat onboard, the floating hospital enhances emergency response capabilities, facilitating rapid medical intervention for critical cases.
