UAE Workers Must Register for Job Loss Insurance or Face Fine!

All UAE workers are required to enroll in job loss insurance by October 1, 2023, or face a fine of AED 400. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has called on all eligible UAE citizens and residents to register for the Unemployment Insurance Scheme before the deadline.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has stated that while employers have the option to register their employees for job loss insurance, it is ultimately the employee's responsibility to do so. Employers do not incur any additional costs as a result of the job loss insurance scheme
The UAE job loss insurance scheme is mandatory for all private and federal sector employees, both citizens and residents, except for:
- Business owners
- Domestic workers
- Temporary employees
- Minors under the age of 18
- Retirees who receive a pension and have joined a new employer
