The UAE has unveiled a groundbreaking program aimed at training one billion people worldwide in fire safety and preparedness. Known as the '1 Billion Readiness' initiative, the project will collaborate with 34 countries and 16 leading firefighting organizations to deliver virtual training sessions accessible to participants globally.
A Vision for Global Fire Protection
Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management, described the initiative as one of the largest global efforts to enhance fire safety standards. The project reflects the UAE’s commitment to building safer communities and advancing fire protection on an unprecedented scale.
Powered by Digital Platforms
Lieutenant General Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi, General Director of Dubai Civil Defence Directorate, stated that the training would be supported by specialized digital platforms available in multiple languages. These platforms are designed to make the courses accessible to a diverse audience, regardless of location or language barriers.
Awareness Campaigns for Local Communities
On a local level, the initiative includes targeted awareness campaigns to engage various segments of society. These campaigns aim to reach individuals, schools, government institutions, and private sector organizations, ensuring the program’s message is spread across all layers of the community.
Certified Training for Graduates
Participants who complete the virtual courses will receive a certified electronic certificate issued by the Global Wildfire Monitoring Centre and the Dubai Civil Defence Readiness Program. This certification validates their training and readiness, equipping them with the knowledge to handle fire-related emergencies effectively.
Why It Matters
With the '1 Billion Readiness' initiative, the UAE is taking a bold step toward improving global fire preparedness. By combining advanced technology and international collaboration, the program aims to create a safer, more resilient world for everyone.
