In a landmark move for sports in the region, the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) and Baseball United have announced the creation of the UAE’s first National Baseball Team.
Baseball United, the first professional baseball league in the Middle East and South Asia, has received official approval from the ECB to spearhead the team’s development and oversee a nationwide baseball program.
The team’s international debut is set for the inaugural Arab Classic tournament, running from November 7-10, 2024, at the newly constructed ballpark in Dubai. The UAE squad will face off against regional rivals, including teams from Pakistan, India, and Saudi Arabia, in what promises to be the largest baseball tournament in the region.
This initiative marks a significant step in Baseball United’s grassroots development strategy, with the team following World Baseball Classic eligibility rules to encourage broader participation, including residents and players with parental ties to the UAE.
With this historic move, the UAE is poised to make a splash on the global baseball scene while enhancing the country’s reputation as a growing hub for diverse sports.
Another historic day for baseball here in the UAE.
