UAE will allow its citizens to vote remotely-from inside or from outside the country- for the next Federal National Council elections.
The National Elections Committee plans to implement a hybrid system where remote votes will be counted alongside votes registered at polling stations.
The initiative has been introduced to align with UAE's digital transformation.
This new regulation will also help enforce a new rule, which requires each voter to register only one vote. If he or she votes more than once, then only his or hers last vote will be counted.
The vote is not allowed to elect more than one candidate from the emirate he or she belongs to.
The remote voting process will take place through a specialised app and the remote voting process will be available from the first day of the early voting period until the end of the main election day.
Another decision will be implemented which will remove election centers from diplomatic missions.
