Many Indian curriculum schools, which wrap up their academic year by the end of March, have already finished teaching their syllabus, allowing students to focus on final exams without added pressure.
"Our school has completed the syllabus for Grades 2 to 12, enabling students to concentrate on their year-end assessments. Grades 10 and 12 are currently taking board exams, while younger students engage in revision sessions," said Deepika Thapar Singh, CEO-Principal of Credence High School.
Special Ramadan Activities
In addition to academic preparations, schools are embracing the essence of Ramadan through themed activities, charity initiatives, and community-building events.
"Our school lobby is decorated to reflect the significance of this holy month. We have planned special Ramadan activities for Pre-KG to Grade 1 students, ensuring they learn about the values of generosity and togetherness," Thapar added.
From Islamic studies sessions to Ramadan-themed art competitions and school-wide iftar gatherings, institutions are fostering an environment of cultural learning and unity.
Balancing Shortened Hours & Wellbeing
School leaders have reassured families that despite shortened hours, learning objectives will be met without compromising students’ well-being.
"We have not accelerated the syllabus ahead of Ramadan. Instead, we prioritize well-being, ensuring that lessons continue at a steady pace without unnecessary pressure," said Ian Plant, Principal/CEO of GEMS Founders School – Dubai South.
He highlighted that the school is also encouraging a love for reading through initiatives such as a Family Reading Picnic, where parents are invited to read with their children in a relaxed setting.
Strengthening Spiritual & Academic Growth
Some institutions are introducing initiatives like the 'Ramadan Challenge,' a series of daily activities designed to engage families in Islamic traditions and cultural heritage.
"Additionally, we are offering Online Tajweed Classes for parents, helping them refine their Quranic recitation skills and deepen their connection with the Holy Quran," said Belle Wagner, Academy Principal of GEMS Wellington Academy – Silicon Oasis.
With carefully pre-mapped objectives, schools are ensuring that students can balance their spiritual and academic journeys during Ramadan, creating an atmosphere of reflection, learning, and community engagement.
