People in the UAE might get a long, nine-day holiday for Eid Al Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, so people can fully enjoy Eid festivities!

Employees from the public and private sectors will be able to enjoy a relaxing holiday with their families if this nine-day Eid break comes about.

Ramadan began on Mar. 11 and is expected to last for 29 days or 30 days depending on when the crescent moon for the month of Shawwal is sighted, which will also indicate the start of Eid Al Fitr.

Private and public sector employees are expected to have holidays from Ramadan 29 till Shawwal 3 for Eid Al Fitr.

If Ramadan lasts thirty days, the first day of Eid Al Fitr will fall on Apr. 10. The Eid break would be from Monday, April 8 (Ramadan 29), to Friday, April 12 (Shawwal 3). Adding the weekend before Apr. 8 and the weekend after Apr. 12, the Eid break will be nine days long.

However, if Ramadan lasts for 29 days, the first day of Eid will fall on Apr. 9 and residents might only get six days off. The Eid break will be from Monday, April 8 (Ramadan 29) till Thursday, April 11 and it will include the weekend before Apr. 8 only.

With a nine-day Eid break, UAE citizens and residents will get enough time to relax after a long month of fasting and to celebrate Eid with family or friends.
