The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) will introduce new legislation before the end of the year that will require all medical facilities to provide at least one remote health service.

The announcement was made during the Remote Forum at the Museum of the Future in Dubai by Sheikha Hassan Al Mansoori, Head of the Strategy and Investment Section of the MoHAP's Digital Health Department. The "Smart Digital Health" framework, which will apply to both public and private sector medical facilities, would be introduced by the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) by the end of this year.

One of the four different remote services - consulting, pharmaceutical prescription, patient monitoring, and robotic surgery, must be offered by the medical facilities under the new framework.

“We will be filtering all healthcare facilities and checking their level of maturity. They should report to us about what services they are able to provide. If not, we will be holding hands and helping them to progress. By the end of this year, they should have at least one of these four services,” said Sheikha.

Assuring medical responsibility in diagnosis, drug prescription, and telemedicine services, the new proposed laws will also provide proper guidelines for healthcare professionals.
