UAE Records Hottest Day of Year as Temperature Hits 50.8°C

The UAE recorded the hottest day of the year on Saturday, August 26th, with the mercury touching 50.8°C, according to the National Centre of Meteorology.

The country’s hottest moment came in Abu Dhabi in the middle of the afternoon at 2:45 pm in Owtaid in the Al Dhafra region.
Regions across the Gulf country reported temperatures in the high 40s.
Earlier in July, temperatures went above the 50ºC-mark for the first time this summer with the mercury touching 50.1°C for two consecutive days on July 15th and 16th in Abu Dhabi.
Worldwide, last month recorded the hottest month on record as temperatures crossed levels known over the past 120,000 years.
