The UAE Cabinet has released Resolution No. 27 of 2024, detailing the schedule of public and private holidays for the year 2025. Published in the Official Gazette, this resolution provides clarity on upcoming holidays for both the public and private sectors.
Key Public Holidays
- New Year's Day: January 1 (Wednesday)
- Eid Al Fitr: A three-day holiday from Shawwal 1-3, with a possible additional day if Ramadan completes 30 days.
- Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha: One day off for Arafat Day (Dhu Al Hijjah 9) and three days for Eid Al Adha (Dhu Al Hijjah 10 to 12).
- Islamic New Year: One day off on Muharram 1 (Gregorian Calendar date to be confirmed).
- Prophet Mohammed’s Birthday: Rabi Al Awwal 12 (Gregorian Calendar date to be confirmed).
- Commemoration Day and UAE Union Day: December 2 and 3 (Tuesday and Wednesday) to honor Commemoration Day and celebrate the 54th UAE Union Day.
Holiday Adjustments
The resolution also addresses holidays that fall on weekends. Except for Eid holidays, official holidays mentioned may be moved to the beginning or end of the week by Cabinet decision. Additionally, local governments have the authority to approve other official holidays for their departments and institutions on special occasions or for specific reasons.
