The United Arab Emirates 2020 population is estimated at 9,890,402 people at mid year according to UN data. the United Arab Emirates population is equivalent to 0.13% of the total world population. the U.A.E. ranks number 93 in the list of countries (and dependencies) by population.
The Emiratis (Arabic: الإماراتيون) are the native population and citizens of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Their largest concentration is in the UAE, where there are about 1 million Emiratis.
In December 1971, the UAE became a federation of six emirates - Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al-Quwain, and Fujairah, while the seventh emirate, Ras Al Khaimah, joined the federation in 1972. The capital city is Abu Dhabi, located in the largest and wealthiest of the seven emirates.

Before its re-creation as the United Arab Emirates in 1971, the UAE was known as the Trucial States, a collection of sheikhdoms extending from the Straits of Hormuz to the west along the Persian Gulf.
There are more than 200 nationalities living and working in the UAE. The expatriate community outnumbers the population of UAE nationals.
