The UAE has launched a dedicated rehabilitation centre to support injured Palestinians, underscoring its commitment to humanitarian efforts. The Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO), in partnership with Emirates Humanitarian City, has established the centre to offer care, rehabilitation, and reintegration services for those affected by the Gaza conflict.

Comprehensive Support for Recovery

The initiative, directed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, aims to provide care for 1,000 injured Palestinians and 1,000 cancer patients. The facility delivers a wide range of services, including medical and psychological assessments, physical and occupational therapy, speech and auditory rehabilitation, and educational support for people of determination.

So far, ZHO specialists have assessed 123 cases and are conducting approximately 80 therapy sessions weekly. The centre also provides prosthetic limbs, wheelchairs, and Braille training for visually impaired individuals. Additionally, hearing aids have been distributed to 11 beneficiaries, and a specialized class helps integrate hearing-impaired children into Emirati schools.

Aiming for Social Integration

Maryam Mohammed Al Obaidli, Head of the Comprehensive Diagnostic Centre at ZHO, highlighted the centre’s mission to help patients regain independence and reintegrate into public life. Over 100 individuals, including children and elderly patients, are currently receiving support.
