The UAE’s National Day celebration has been officially renamed ‘Eid Al Etihad,’ as announced by the organizing committee. The new name, meaning “Festival of Union,” puts a spotlight on the country’s unity and heritage, celebrating the formation of the Emirates on December 2, 1971. This year’s event marks the 53rd anniversary, and festivities are expected across all seven emirates.

Festivities and Events Planned Across the Emirates

December 2, which falls on a Monday, will kick off a four-day holiday weekend, giving UAE residents a long break to join in the celebrations. While the main event location remains under wraps, the committee has hinted at multiple ‘Eid Al Etihad zones’ where public events and celebrations will be held across the Emirates. These zones are designed to make celebrations accessible for everyone, creating a collective national atmosphere of pride and unity.

Focus on Sustainable Celebrations

In line with the UAE’s commitment to sustainability, the 53rd Eid Al Etihad will emphasize eco-friendly celebration practices. The organizing committee is urging residents to celebrate consciously by reusing, recycling, and minimizing waste.

Join the Festivities with Sustainable Ideas

The committee has provided online resources with ideas and guides on how to enjoy the celebrations sustainably. From home setups to office decorations, these resources aim to make it easy for everyone to mark the occasion responsibly.
