The UAE's President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has approved a new decree aimed at increasing the accountability of ministers and senior federal officials.
The Public Prosecution will receive complaints from members of the community against the senior officials. These will be referred to investigation in coordination with the Cabinet.

The Public Prosecutor can ban any senior official from travel, freeze funds if needed, and senior officials can be dismissed for administrative and financial violations.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, took to Twitter on Tuesday to announce the decree.

He said the decree was issued by the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Yesterday, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has issued federal law No. 12 of 2021 pertaining to the National Human Rights Institution (NHRI).
