The UAE has ordered the flying of 100 healthcare workers significant to the country’s fight against Covid-19 pandemic to Saudi Arabia to engage in the Hajj season.
The initiative is conducted to honour those who worked hard on the front lines in the nation’s hospitals & clinics risking their lives while responding to the major public health crisis that spread globally.
According to the state news agency WAM, the order of conducting such a trip was carried out under the directives of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region and chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent, the humanitarian arm of the government.
On Saturday, the Frontline Heroes Office delegation started their journey from Abu Dhabi International Airport and then headed to Makkah.
The charitable move was overseen by the office and ERC in collaboration with the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments.
