Good News! The UAE has just made life a bit easier for its citizens by extending passport validity from five years to ten years. Starting from July 8, 2024, if you're 21 or older, you can enjoy this new perk, according to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP).
Less Hassle, More Time
The new 10-year passport means you’ll only need to renew once every decade, making it super convenient and less bureaucratic. It’s all part of the government’s plan to save you time and cut down on red tape.
Simpler Renewal Process
Getting your new 10-year passport is as straightforward as the old one. When your current passport is about to expire, or if you’ve filled all its pages, you can apply for the new one. The process and delivery channels remain the same.
Convenient Renewal Options
For those in the UAE, renewing your passport is easy through local offices run by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs. Got an emergency? No worries! Dedicated passport offices at Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah airports are open 24/7 for urgent renewals.
Renewals Abroad
If you’re living overseas, you can still take advantage of the new 10-year passport service through UAE embassies and consulates in your country of residence.
