In a major humanitarian effort, the United Arab Emirates has collaborated with the World Health Organization (WHO) to safely evacuate 86 critically injured patients from Gaza, including children and cancer patients in need of urgent care. The patients, accompanied by 124 family members, were transported from Ramon Airport in Israel to Abu Dhabi for advanced medical treatment. This operation, conducted via the Kerem Shalom crossing, marks the UAE's twenty-second evacuation mission from Gaza.

UAE Reinforces Support for Palestinians Amid Crisis
Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, the UAE’s Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organizations, emphasized the UAE’s commitment to supporting Palestinians amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis. "This new initiative reflects the strong levels of cooperation between the UAE and the World Health Organization," said Al Shamsi. "We remain resolute in our collaboration with the United Nations, international partners, and relief organizations."
A Larger Initiative to Provide Lifesaving Healthcare
This mission aligns with a broader initiative led by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to treat 1,000 children and 1,000 cancer patients from Gaza in UAE hospitals. Since the initiative’s inception, the UAE has successfully transported a total of 2,127 Palestinian patients and their companions to the UAE for medical care.
UAE Field Hospitals and Floating Medical Support
The UAE’s efforts in Gaza extend beyond evacuation missions. Since its establishment in December 2023, the UAE Field Hospital in southern Gaza has treated an impressive 50,489 patients. Additionally, a UAE hospital ship anchored at Al-Arish Port has provided care to 6,405 patients since February 2024, demonstrating the UAE’s ongoing commitment to delivering advanced healthcare services.
Over 43,000 Tonnes of Relief Aid Provided
Beyond medical support, the UAE has contributed over 43,000 tonnes of essential supplies, including food, medicine, and other relief materials, to aid the Palestinian people. This assistance underscores the UAE’s dedication to supporting those in need with crucial resources amidst challenging times.
