In 2024, the UAE cemented its reputation as a global leader in humanitarian efforts, showcasing its unwavering commitment to international solidarity. Marking its 53rd National Day on December 2, the UAE has consistently embraced the values of giving and support, which have become cornerstones of its identity.

Since its formation in 1971, the UAE has provided AED 360 billion (US$98 billion) in foreign aid, significantly improving lives worldwide. This aid has reduced poverty, responded to crises, and supported sustainable economic and social development.

Major Humanitarian Milestones in 2024

1. AED 20 Billion Erth Zayed Philanthropies:
President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan launched this groundbreaking initiative to empower communities and foster sustainable development globally.

2. AED 1 Billion Mothers' Endowment Campaign:
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum introduced this fund to honor mothers by supporting education for millions worldwide. It underscores the UAE’s recognition of mothers as the foundation of generations.

3. US$100 Million to Fight Hunger:
Crown Prince H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed announced this significant allocation through the UAE Aid Agency to combat global hunger and poverty, aligning with the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty.

4. AED 55 Million for Global Health:
The UAE’s Reaching the Last Mile initiative, led by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, committed AED 55 million to the Global Institute for Disease Elimination (GLIDE), continuing its fight against preventable diseases.

Supporting Gaza, Lebanon, and Sudan

  • Aid for Gaza: The UAE provided medical treatment for 1,000 wounded children and 1,000 cancer patients. It also conducted the “Birds of Goodness” operation to airdrop humanitarian aid.
  • Support for Lebanon: Under the “UAE Stands with Lebanon” campaign, the UAE sent 18 aircraft and a relief ship with 2,000 tonnes of aid. An urgent US$100 million relief package and an additional US$30 million for displaced Lebanese in Syria were provided.
  • Aid for Sudan: The UAE pledged US$100 million for humanitarian efforts in Sudan and its neighboring countries, alongside a US$10.25 million project supporting conflict-affected women in Chad.

The UAE continued to respond to natural disasters and crises globally, aiding countries like Brazil, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nepal, and the Philippines. These efforts reflect its enduring commitment to fostering peace, stability, and prosperity.
