In the UAE, the holy month of Ramadan will begin on Thursday, March 23 as the crescent moon, which marks the beginning of a month in the Islamic Hijri calendar, was not seen on Tuesday night, as reported by the moon-sighting committee.

During the Maghrib prayer, the UAE's moon sighting committee gathered at the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department. The meeting was presided over by Minister of Justice Abdullah Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, and other high-ranking officials.
This year's holy month of Ramadan will have a period of 29 days according to astronomical predictions. Residents will get a four-day weekend to celebrate Eid Al Fitr, which is predicted to fall on Friday, April 21.
As per the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) of Dubai, Maghrib will be at 6.35 p.m. on the first day of Ramadan, which means Muslims can break their fast at that time. The time for Maghrib will keep increasing till the end of Ramadan. Taraweeh prayers will begin Wednesday night after the Ishaa Prayer.
