UAE Condemns Burning of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza
The UAE denounces the forced evacuation of patients and the destruction of Gaza's health system.
The UAE has issued a sharp condemnation of the Israeli forces' burning of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, calling it a grave violation of international humanitarian law.
The assault, which included the forced evacuation of patients, medical staff, and journalists, has drawn widespread criticism.
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) expressed its categorical rejection of the attack, highlighting the systematic destruction of Gaza’s already fragile healthcare infrastructure. The Ministry emphasized the importance of safeguarding civilians and critical institutions during conflict, in line with international treaties.
Call for Immediate Action
Reiterating its call for an immediate cessation of hostilities, the UAE urged the global community to intensify efforts to de-escalate the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. The Ministry stressed the need to prevent further humanitarian deterioration and protect civilian lives amid the escalating crisis in Gaza.
A Humanitarian Catastrophe
Kamal Adwan Hospital, the only operational medical facility serving over 400,000 Palestinians in northern Gaza, was targeted on Friday. Local sources confirmed that Israeli forces stormed the hospital, evacuating around 350 individuals—including 170 medical staff—under heavy missile strikes and live ammunition.
Reports indicate that those evacuated were forced into the hospital courtyard, stripped of their belongings in the cold, and later transported to an undisclosed location. Communication with those inside the hospital was reportedly severed before the attack.
Protecting Civilians and Institutions
The UAE expressed grave concern over the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, warning that further escalation threatens catastrophic consequences for civilians. The Ministry called for urgent international intervention to safeguard lives and work toward a comprehensive and just peace in the region.
As Gaza continues to endure severe humanitarian challenges, the UAE's statement underscores the need for collective global action to prevent further tragedies and uphold the principles of international law.
