Starting in October 2024, UAE citizens with valid US visas will benefit from quicker entry procedures into the United States. This follows a new agreement between the UAE and the US, making the UAE part of the Global Entry program, an initiative aimed at speeding up immigration processes for eligible travelers.
What is the Global Entry Program?
Global Entry is a US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) program that allows pre-approved, low-risk travelers to bypass long lines and reduce paperwork at US airports. By using dedicated Global Entry kiosks, travelers can complete the immigration process more quickly.
Emirati citizens approved for the Global Entry program will have access to these benefits at over 75 airports in the US and other select countries.
Requirements for Participation
UAE citizens must still hold a valid US visa to use Global Entry. Those interested in applying will need to go through a screening process before receiving approval. The program enhances travel convenience while maintaining strict security measures.
Agreement Signed During UAE President’s US Visit
The agreement between the UAE Ministry of Interior and the US Department of Homeland Security was signed during UAE President Sheikh Mohamed’s official visit to the United States. UAE Ambassador to the US, Yousef Al Otaiba, stated, “This is another step in strengthening our shared security and facilitating smoother travel for Emiratis.”
Both countries will continue to work together to finalize the details, ensuring UAE citizens have easier access to the US while maintaining high security standards.
Looking Forward
This development marks a significant improvement for Emiratis traveling to the US, offering faster entry and reduced hassle. As the program rolls out in October 2024, approved participants can enjoy more seamless travel while crossing borders.
