UAE Announces Shorter Ramadan Work Hours for Private Sector
MoHRE confirms two-hour daily reduction for employees during the holy month
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced a two-hour daily reduction in working hours for private sector employees throughout Ramadan.
Companies may also implement flexible or remote work options, provided they align with the daily working hour limits, MoHRE stated in its announcement on Monday.
The Ministry announces a reduction of 2 working hours per day for private sector employees during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

The move is in line with Federal Decree Law No. 33 of 2021, which regulates labor relations in the UAE. The adjustment aims to support employees in maintaining a balance between work and religious observance during the holy month.
Government sector employees had their Ramadan working hours confirmed earlier, with public sector workers operating from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday to Thursday, and 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Fridays.
With Ramadan expected to begin on March 11, based on the Islamic calendar, businesses across the UAE are expected to adjust schedules accordingly.
