UAE's National Crisis, Emergency and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) announced today, March 14th, a 50 percent discount on fines imposed for violations of COVID-19 precautionary measures.
The authority added that the discount will start tomorrow, March 15th, and will last for two months. It will include all unpaid violations committed during the coronavirus pandemic.
The public has been asked to pay the fines via the websites and smart apps of the Ministry of Interior and police commands.
During the pandemic, UAE introduced a host of penalties for breaking COVID-19 regulations.
Fines starting from AED 3,000 for not wearing a mask in public to AED 50,000 for violating quarantine instructions were imposed on residents who violated the rules.
In November 2022, the UAE government lifted all COVID-19 precautionary measures.
