For Muslims to stay safe during Eid Al Fitr Prayer, the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) has announced new COVID-19 protocols for Eid, including regulations for mosques, protocols for prayers and ways to stay safe during Eid celebrations.

The new UAE Eid Al Fitr COVID-19 protocols stipulate that:

  • The duration of prayers and khutba must not be longer than 20 minutes.
  • Worshipers will be supervised by police, volunteers and imams to prevent crowds.
  • The gates of mosques will be open after dawn prayer on the day of Eid for Eid prayer, while the outdoor speakers will broadcast the Eid tabkeers half an hour before prayer.

  • Mosques must display physical distancing stickers and allow worshipers to pray from nearby parking lots and parks.

  • Worshipers must use disposable prayer mats, wear face masks at all times and leave a physical distance by one meter.

  • Worshipers must avoid gathering and shaking hands after prayers.

  • Worshipers must have green pass status on the Al Hosn app, and limit celebrations to immediate family members

In addition, the NCEMA advice the public try to use electronic alternatives to Eid presents.
