Etihad Rail has just dropped some exciting news for travelers in the United Arab Emirates! The highly-anticipated passenger railway service is on the horizon, and we’re getting pumped about every detail. With this new railway, traveling between Dubai and other emirates will be quicker, greener, and more convenient than ever.

What Are the Journey Times?

Etihad Rail recently announced the journey times for its passenger trains starting from Abu Dhabi on its official X account. Here’s a quick look at what you can expect:

  • Abu Dhabi to Dubai: 57 minutes
  • Abu Dhabi to Al Ruwais: 70 minutes
  • Abu Dhabi to Fujairah: 105 minutes

That’s right! The trip from Abu Dhabi to Dubai will take just 57 minutes, allowing you to skip the stress of sitting in traffic. Imagine relaxing on a train instead!

Connecting the Emirates

The new passenger railway service aims to enhance connectivity across the UAE. For instance, the journey to Al Ruwais, while still within the Abu Dhabi emirate, covers a distance of 240 kilometers. This shows how Etihad Rail will also help connect cities even within the same emirate.

Traveling to Fujairah? The train will take just 105 minutes from Abu Dhabi, making it an excellent option for those looking to explore the eastern emirate.

What’s Next for Etihad Rail?

This is just the beginning! Etihad Rail has promised more announcements as they prepare to launch the passenger rail service. While the first passenger ride took place in January 2024 between Abu Dhabi and Al Dhannah, the full rollout is still in progress. Right now, the existing tracks are primarily for freight services, but we can expect the complete passenger experience soon.

Once operational, Etihad Rail aims to cater to approximately 36.5 million passengers annually. Each train will accommodate over 400 passengers and can travel at speeds of up to 200 km per hour. Plus, there will be various seating options, including first class, business class, and economy, ensuring comfort for every traveler.
